External care
Exteral care

Here are some ways to take care of your external body:

  • Skin: Take a bath or shower daily with clean water, and wipe dry with a clean towel. You can also try a mild sunbath, and massage your body with oil or moisturizer. Avoid scrubbing your skin with rough objects, and don’t use washing soap or detergent powder, which can harm your skin.
  • Hair: Wash your hair at least every three days.
  • Teeth: Brush your teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.
  • Hands: Wash your hands often with soap and water, or use an antiseptic foam or gel. You can also wipe your hands after using the restroom.
  • Intimate hygiene: Use a bidet to clean the genitals and anus after using the restroom or having intimacy. Bidets are more hygienic than wiping, which can spread bacteria and fecal matter.
  • Linens and clothes: Wash your linens and clothes once a week, either by hand or in the washing machine.
  • Self-careAfter giving birth, you can practice self-care by:
    • Following your doctor’s orders
    • Getting enough rest
    • Eating healthy meals
    • Getting some exercise
    • Spending time with your partner
    • Joining a mommy support group
